From behind school gates, out into the real world, been\nquite the transition,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Barely any feeling-out process, overwhelmed being the new\ndefault setting, pressure mounting from both internal and external sources, fucking\nup\u2019s not an option and too old now for excuses,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grades achieved are useless, those academic accolades\nmeaningless, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The real world don\u2019t give a fuck, Amigo, it\u2019s deadly serious\nbusiness,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To find my place in the world, it\u2019s easier said than done,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What to study and where to work, a gap year sounds fun, a\nparadox of choice that don\u2019t come easy to some,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Rents been both a blessing and a curse, their brand of\nmotivation not-so-low-key pressuring with expectations,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nevertheless the love and support remains, gotta give credit\nwhere it\u2019s due,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Helped me land my first gig and tertiary education too,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TAFE the first step to that coveted uni degree, just a\ndetour of sorts, couldn\u2019t get to the kingdom via the HSC,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accepted into a government gig in early July, didn\u2019t take up\ntoo much time,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Four hours a day with solid pay, finally made it to\nparadise,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last two years were forgettable, the previous one in\nparticular, this must be my reward, the spoils must surely go to the victor, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Toughed out that rough start, here\u2019s the happy ending, finally\nhit the open road, Mom and Dad, look at me I made it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But what goes up must come down, turned out to be a\ntemporary high,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Job turned out to be a temp, three months later I was waving\ngood-bye,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Felt like several steps backwards, in a game of snakes and\nladders got bit by the largest serpent, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Plummeted back to the start, like the last three months had never\nhappened,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nevertheless added that experience to the CV, but searching\nfor new lodgings won\u2019t be easy,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Will I find a role as straightforward and convenient? And\nwith handsome rewards, too, for good measure?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019ll allow the education of yours truly to run smoothly?\nThey say one grows through adversity but surely I\u2019d earned the right to be choosy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ain\u2019t never been a big spender, got plenty of money in the\nbank, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enough to tide me over while the near future looks dank,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then there\u2019s the rumblings behind the scenes, not gonna air\nout dirty laundry,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But a civil war appeared imminent, thankfully there was\nsafety between siblings,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stuck together for now though uneasily but at least we\nremained intact,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Concerns growing louder over how much longer it\u2019ll last,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Christmas came and went in a hurry as did the party at NYE,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So there you have it, a year divided into three, an awkward\nstart and inglorious finish, sandwiched a trip to the mountain peak,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hoping for better days in the next one, the train rolls on, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
